Description

Size 23 Integrated Stepper Motor + Drive + Controller w/ Network Interface

The Package

AMCI's SMD23 Networked Series is a size 23 3-in-1 Integrated Stepper Motor, Drive, and Controller package with network interface. It is a self-contained motion control product that is easy to install while delivering best in class performance at a competitive price.

AMCI's SMD23 Network Series incorporates a Stepper Motor + Drive + Controller into a single product that interfaces to your PLC or PAC over the network (EtherNet/IP, Modbus-TCP, Modbus-RTU, or Profibus). We've reduced total system costs and simplified installation because you only have to purchase one product versus a separate controller, drive, and motor. Plus, programming & configuration is streamlined because it uses standard commands through your PLC's software that are communicated over the network. No additional software is required, and you don't need to learn another programming language! AMCI's SMD23 Networked Series integrates with your PLC or PAC, saving you time and money.

Superior Durability

For applications requiring an IP50 or IP67 rating you can opt for an SMD23 Networked Series unit with M12 connectors. The rugged industrial connectors provide superior durability for installations subject to high cable flex and/or wash down environments (food & beverage, industrial rinses, etc.).

Move Verification

AMCI's SMD23 Networked Series is available with an optional incremental or absolute encoder for move verification.

Flexible

If you're seeking flexibility, AMCI's SMD23 Networked Series scores high marks. We've made it easy to add stepper axes wherever you need them on your EtherNet/IP, Modbus-TCP, Modbus-RTU, or Profibus network, just plug in another SMD23 Networked Series and configure your motion axis over the network - done.

Extras: Ethernet Version

dlr-device-level-ring-logo.pngThe SMD23E2 is the first integrated stepper motor/controller with a built-in Ethernet switch. The embedded switch provides a network connection for additional axes of motion without increasing the nodes on your existing ethernet switch. DLR topology provides a fault tolerant connection that can detect a break in the network and redirect the network traffic maintaining communication and system uptime.

synchrostep-logo.pngAMCI’s SynchroStep technology enables coordinated motion control between the SMD23E(2) and Allen-Bradley motion axes (servo, VFD,  etc). The SMD23E(2) can be synchronized and geared to a master Virtual axis within the PLC, filling a gap that currently exists in the industry for small, inexpensive synchronized motion solution offerings. The SMD Series’ unique approach to PLC-integration simplifies configuration, programming, and coordinated motion.
